Seabridge Reefer Services, Inc. Opens New Office in Costa Rica

To better serve changing client needs, Miami-based ship logistics company Seabridge Reefer Services Inc. is opening a second office outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. "This will place us closer to our key clients," notes company president Gert Rotgans. "We ship bananas and perishables around the world. This Central American location makes it much easier for growers to do business with us."
Day-to-day operations will continue at Seabridge's Miami, Florida office, which houses key staff including heads of Operations, Accounting, IT and Support. Company president Gert Rotgans will personaly oversee the Costa Rica office. Seabridge opened in 1995, then serving the banana trade and has since expanded to other perishables including apples and seafood. It has also opened unconventional new markets such as bringing bananas to China and crustaceans to Dubai.
"This business continues to shift dramaticaly," adds Rotgans. IWe must do everything we can to make doing business easier and more convenient for our customers. Nothing beats face-to-face meetings. By going to the source of our traditional business, we gain a significant competitive edge over other refrigerated ship brokers who prefer to work only by phone and email."
The immediate results look promising, with bookings up compared to Q4 numbers. Rotgans anticipates strong revenue growth as economic engines fire back to life in late 2009 to early 2010.
Seabridge Reefer Services is a highly respected operator, manager and broker of refrigerated vessels worldwide. The company also acts as chartering agents for international shipping, and lends its expertise in specialty areas such as ship sales and purchase brokers. The firm boasts long-term experience in bunker trade and brokering as well as yacht transportation. It is also a trading company through its Blue Alliance Trading affiliate. Each of these specialized fields is grounded on long and deep experience in international shipping, experience that Holland-born Rotgans traces back to his own maritime family.
